Cars are at risk from smash and grab thieves need tougher windows, say experts.

The number of 'smash and grab' thieves targeting cars has doubled over recent years, meaning quality car insurance is needed more than ever.
Motorists in the UK are becoming increasingly concerned over the increase in smash and grab thieves, as recent Home Office figures reveal this kind of vehicle crime has doubled over the last decade.
The figures are terrifying reading for those will minimal car insurance cover, as almost 100 break-ins an hour are being reported in Britain, at a cost of £1.4 billion annually.
Experts claim that, as windows are the weakest area of a
car, unbreakable glass should be fitted as a legal standard to help prevent break-ins.
New research from car manufacturer Citroen has found that one in six car owners in the UK would like to see unbreakable glass fitted as standard, as the move would also ultimately lead to a cheaper car insurance quote.
What Car? magazine's group editor Steve Fowler commented: "Security glazing is potentially the most significant security development since the introduction of the immobiliser, so it really does need to be embraced."
Aside from reducing the levels of break-ins and lowering car insurance premiums, the toughened windows would also become a safety design as passengers would be less likely to be thrown from their vehicles.
