UK drivers are being advised to prepare their cars for winter, as Britain looks set to endure the coldest winter in more than a decade.

Tesco estimates that this year over ten thousand vehicles will be rescued after breaking down during Christmas Eve and Christmas day alone.
Motorists are being urged to arrange breakdown motor insurance before the festive season begins and Tesco is offering an Instant Breakdown pack at its stores and petrol stations.
The supermarket giant provides four comprehensive cover levels, which can be paid for at the checkout, covering the vehicle instantly from as little as ?33. Tesco Breakdown Cover is provided by Green Flag Motoring
Assistance and average response time is 39 minutes.
Tesco has also warned drivers to get their battery checked, check tyre tread, clean lights, check brake and fog lights, carry a scraper, de-icer and a warm coat and gloves in the car, and allow longer journey times in case road conditions are bad.
Motorists should always check weather forecasts before setting off, ensure mobile phones are fully charged and remain by their vehicles if they do break down.
Temperatures have plummeted below freezing in recent weeks and many regions of the UK have experienced snow, increasing the likelihood of a breakdown or accident.
