Location affects cars as well as car insurance

Where you live in the country affects what type of car you drive, according to a new survey. Where you live influences what you drive – and therefore what you pay on car insurance, claims a new report. A new survey from car insurance provider swiftcover.com has found that, among other peculiarities, people from Essex are more likely to drive Ford's and there are as many "school-run-mums" as there are farmers driving 4x4s. Canny Scots were also revealed to be lovers of the economic Skoda, while in London and the south-east, more expensive models were favoured. Andrew Blowers, chief executive at swiftcover.com commented: "Whatever car you drive and wherever you live, you

need to insure your car against theft and damage. "Whilst you might be more likely to drive a Ford in Essex, it doesn’t mean you will be paying the same for your car insurance as your fellow Essex boy or indeed girl. That’s why it is important to shop around." Mr Blowers pointed highlighted the benefits of shopping around, especially online, for the best car insurance quote – regardless of your location. He added: "Swiftcover.com has revolutionised the car insurance market by offering insurance 100 per cent online, meaning you can get your quote at the push of the button within a minute – no matter where you live. "Online insurance also means no call centres, which means swiftcover can provide insurance cheaper than many other providers."
